Recent developments in climate conferences, especially the Conference of Parties (COP) organized by the UNFCCC, demonstrate increasing global awareness of the impacts of climate change. COP26 in Glasgow aroused global attention, raising ambitions to reduce emissions. At COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, talks continued support for vulnerable countries, establishing a climate finance framework. With a target to limit global temperature rise to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, global consensus is increasingly important. Governments of various countries are trying to increase their national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Developed countries such as the US and EU are focusing on the renewable energy transition and carbon reduction, while developing countries are pressing for increased financial support to enable adaptation. This creates tensions in negotiations that reflect inequalities in each country’s capacity towards sustainability. The climate conference also had a major impact on global politics. This meeting strengthened geopolitical alliances, with countries that share environmental values and goals forming new groups. For example, cooperation between the US and the EU in reducing emissions is encouraging other countries to follow their lead. The emphasis on resilience to climate change has put this issue at the top of the agenda in international relations. The conference also influenced domestic policy. In Europe, the rise of the green movement is accelerating the transition to renewable energy, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions. In Asia, countries like China are investing heavily in green technology. In this context, companies and industries are starting to adapt to new policies to meet emission reduction targets. On the other hand, less fortunate countries face a double challenge. They must adapt while seeking funding for environmentally friendly infrastructure. This uncertainty has given rise to criticism of developed country policies which are considered less helpful. Dialogue on climate justice is increasingly important and is often included on conference agendas. The transition to a green economy is urging many countries to reconsider existing business and industrial models. This creates new opportunities and challenges, such as the divergence between fossil fuel-based and renewable energy industries. Investment in clean technology is now a key strategy for many countries to attract the attention of foreign investors. Cross-border cooperation is also enhanced, not only in reducing emissions, but also in technological innovation and climate research. Green technology companies collaborate with governments to create sustainable and practical solutions, leading to new research in the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS). Initiatives at local and regional levels are also gaining increasing attention. Municipal governments around the world are working to develop climate plans that benefit sustainable development outcomes, creating resilience at the community level. This shows that climate efforts are not only a responsibility at the state level, but also at the grassroots level. Ultimately, a collective mindset in climate action leads to the understanding that climate change is a global challenge that requires a global response. The success of conferences such as these will depend largely on the continued commitment of countries to achieve the ambitious targets agreed upon.
